It was the summer of 1960 when 15-year-old Mary Ellen spent two weeks with us in our little attic apartment in Brookfield. And before we left for work in downtown Chicago each morning, I (all of 19 at the time) instructed my little sister not to go outside, under any circumstances.
I was afraid she would be kidnapped!

DARLING photo! Definitely irresistable to kidnappers :)
I did as you said and never left the apartment, but made up for lost time a few years later when I moved to Chicago and partied in the Rush Street clubs ALL NIGHT LONG.
OMG...shivers still run up and down my spine when I hear "Summer in the City." That song was popular when those eight student nurses were murdered in Chicago. And you were living there at the time!
